For most of human history, we have struggled to even survive. We’ve had nothing left over after feeding, clothing and sheltering ourselves – if we have, the tyrants took it away. Yet due to technology, for the first time we have everything we need. Yet many people still struggle from day to day. Why is this?
Well, firstly a lot of it is due to greedy governments seeing what we earn as their own. We wonder why we get poorer, while the tax take and government spending increases annually. Isn’t there some connection between ordinary people getting laid off or losing their houses, a grasping government and elites who use our money like a private piggy bank for their pet causes and bailouts?
But we are often our own worst enemies too. We see ourselves only as consumers and wage slaves, rather than investors and producers. Like lemmings, we follow each other to consume beyond our means, save or invest nothing, then go to the banks for debt. Living in debt isn’t living.
I like the lines To hit and not to miss. To me, that implies the point where we transcend the way that “they” want us to live – the status quo – and see the truth and start to live a free life – as we are meant to. At this point, being fully alive isn’t just a dream for the future, but is a daily reality.
