What is freedom?

This blog is about regaining your own freedom. So what does this mean? What is freedom anyway? Why do we need to regain it?

Well, as I have stated, freedom is something that is a state of the heart. Someone can be in the most unfree situation (for example, prison) and be free, while someone else can be totally financially independent and traveling the world at will, and be a slave. What begins in the heart eventually has full fruit in someone’s life.

When I use the term “slave” or “slavery”, I am referring to the opposite of someone being free. Being free is our natural state and right. Somewhere in childhood, freedom is stolen. To be a whole person again, we must regain what was taken away.

For me, freedom is the ability to think thoughts of my own, unfettered by meaningless and irrelevant convention. It means being able to see the unvarnished truth and having the courage to look directly at it. It is about being true to my own convictions, rather than having meaningless allegiance to ideas that only benefit someone else. It is about originality rather than cliches and excellence rather than mediocrity.

It is being my own master and being able to support my family financially while working on tasks that enhance the quality of my life. It is about having financial freedom so that I can enjoy what the world has to offer. Freedom means not being reliant on a government or corporation for my existence.

Freedom is the right to spend my time as I choose, with me selecting the right balance for my own life. I like to spend my time in things that benefit me and my family, not waste my time overcoming artificial obstacles or for no reward.

A free system of government supports personal freedom. It allows us to live our life without interference and without confiscation of our earnings.

So what does freedom mean to you?
