Steps towards freedom – part 2
In the previous part of this posting, I discussed the importance of developing clear thinking and taking control of your finances as steps towards freedom.
In this section, I’ll continue on with my thoughts on how to not be a slave.
Not being a slave
The world system is based on a chain of power, with one person controlling another, from the highest dictator down to the lowest level supervisor. Those in power are not selected because they are the most competent or able persons for the role – generally they love having power over others.
If you give them a chance, they will want you to become a slave. A slave does not have any authority over their own life. Their role is simply as a useful tool to the master. They are only valued for what they do, not for who they are. To a greater or lesser degree, they are replaceable and expendable. They are provided with just enough to sustain continued servitude – no more.
We correctly despise slavery as it occurred in the plantations of the south. Without belittling what slaves suffered at that time, I believe that slavery is alive and well. The current slaves are not beaten or starved, but they still do not have freedom or the opportunity to enjoy their lives.
As a sovereign individual, this should not be your lot. In our society, slavery comes in two forms. Firstly, employers expect that paying a salary buys a soul. Secondly, bureaucrats believe that living in a society gives them a right to your earning, time and even life. They enact petty rules and controls that sap your efforts. The worst thing about modern slavery is that it is not obvious. It is a condition of the spirit where you give up the right to your own life.
I am not advocating leaving your employment or breaking laws. I am saying that you become free when you stop being used and become aware of the attempts to use you, and start to stand up for yourself and escape what is holding you back.
The next time you are asked to work overtime without extra pay, make a considered decision, don’t just say yes because you have to. When a new law is enacted that will work against you, think about solutions – whether it means living elsewhere, or simply being a bit smarter.
Above all, don’t just accept slavery as your lot in life.
